\nmake plain the silence. Elsewhere autumn
\nfeeds into winters\u2019 fevers on urban streets:
\ncrowds surge, windows glow with all
\nwe think we need: all can be bought, and all
\nseems endlessly reborn.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
\nthe hectic surge and the root that hoards
\nits strength in silence. Tonight as the season\u2019s
\nfirst nor-easter prowls around the house
\nand strips the forest clean and drowns all song
\nwith its howls, I choose an end to each season:
\nI don\u2019t believe fever on fever equals life.
\nA man needs the slow down and ingathering
\nof his power to defy winter with another spring
\nhowever the years blow past.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
