{"id":19039,"date":"2019-05-10T08:00:10","date_gmt":"2019-05-10T08:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ink.verticalplus.co.uk\/archive\/?p=19039"},"modified":"2019-05-10T14:04:16","modified_gmt":"2019-05-10T14:04:16","slug":"lee-prosser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inksweatandtears.co.uk\/archive\/lee-prosser\/","title":{"rendered":"Lee Prosser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>White-Knuckles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the force of the fall, it\u2019s OK<br \/>\nto call your screams outbursts of joy<br \/>\nas long as they don\u2019t shrill.<\/p>\n<p>You can fool everyone,<br \/>\nif you keep your body still and maintain a grip<br \/>\non the restraining bar.<\/p>\n<p>You can hang on to your courage<br \/>\nsat next to your 12-year old son if you don\u2019t swear<br \/>\nin the section that flings you upside down.<\/p>\n<p>You can be deceptive,<br \/>\nif you can hold your last meal or tears from spilling<br \/>\nas the twists and turns take their toll.<\/p>\n<p>You can get away with a lot<br \/>\nif you quickly lure them towards the hotdogs,<br \/>\nbefore your mask of terror belies your stalwart stance<\/p>\n<p>flashing up on the exterior screen.<br \/>\nThat photo booth revealing your fear as you leave\u2014<br \/>\nand you praying<\/p>\n<p>once more that your corkscrewed body can deceive.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lee Prosser<\/strong> currently lives in West Wales and graduated with an MA in creative writing from Swansea University in 2018.
