\nthrough the woods, an angry verdict
\nblown down from an arctic conscious
\nof living, unseen energy & blasted down
\na gigantic pine tree in the yard between
\nhouses.<\/p>\n
\ncrossed by a naked mechanical reality.
\nThat power could not be imprinted on the back
\nof a cereal box, or a mattress from Sears & Roebuck
\nlaid out to absorb the shock,<\/p>\n
\nlike a rain soaked taper that cannot illuminate
\nthe watery depths, chord extraordinary only held
\nfor an instant.<\/p>\n
\nwhether moon or mind-driven as we live on
\nsculpted patterns implanted like a stake driven
\ninto vitals, so used to the pain that not even
\na lost whimper drips from the trees.<\/p>\n
\nmoon forgotten, these now mass hobbies
\nsilently squalling like little hungry babies
\nfor the bottle.<\/p>\n
\nappointments, cafeteria grazing, to specialists
\nwho specialize in telling us our afflicted
\nspeciality.<\/p>\n
\nThat same wind knows no allegiance to the clock;
\nNeither does the tree.<\/p>\n
