Memory Plates<\/span>


Memory plates glide over one another.<\/span>
Like two facing windows, a hall of mirrors:<\/span>

slow, shifting images          – your infant self<\/span>
                                    sat in a cafeteria waiting <\/span>
                                            for <\/span>something<\/span> –<\/span>
gently corroded <\/span>
by changes in the light.    <\/span>

As layers form, new maps are made;    an office block <\/span>
becomes translucent,    weighs less <\/span>
than a photograph of itself.<\/span>

Fluorescent strips in a shopping centre    <\/span>
  light up the derelict swimming pool<\/span>
                   on the other side of the city.<\/span>

You stand on the high-board: look down, <\/span>
feet half-over the edge, watching the drift.<\/span>
