{"id":17191,"date":"2018-09-22T08:00:36","date_gmt":"2018-09-22T08:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ink.verticalplus.co.uk\/archive\/?p=17191"},"modified":"2018-09-21T09:24:18","modified_gmt":"2018-09-21T09:24:18","slug":"miki-byrne-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inksweatandtears.co.uk\/archive\/miki-byrne-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Miki Byrne"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Yellow but Moreso<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>How odd that flowers glow.<\/div>\n<div>Flash that acid-bright,<\/div>\n<div>lens-scratching flare<\/div>\n<div>that sears eyes,<\/div>\n<div>draws drivers to turn heads<\/div>\n<div>and me to stand and gaze.<\/div>\n<div>It\u2019s too fierce, fizzing, sharp.<\/div>\n<div>Too downright bright for nature.<\/div>\n<div>Impossibly, improbably, yellow.<\/div>\n<div>Not yolk, primrose, daffodil,<\/div>\n<div>sunshine, sulphur or topaz.<\/div>\n<div>Not amber or dandelion.<\/div>\n<div>It fluoresces.<\/div>\n<div>Sharp as hi-viz vests.<\/div>\n<div>Yet if it is an anomaly,<\/div>\n<div>a throwback,<\/div>\n<div>an agricultural morph forward,<\/div>\n<div>I like it.<\/div>\n<div>Nothing has such visceral power<\/div>\n<div>as a spreading, vast,<\/div>\n<div>lemon and vinegar<\/div>\n<div>smack-in-the-eye, field of rape<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><strong>Miki Byrne<\/strong> has had three poetry collections published, work included in over 170 poetry magazines and anthologies and has read on Radio and TV.
