\ndreams were not any thicker
\nthe sun didn\u2019t shine or
\nunshine, it was the same sun
\nwe always knew,
\nthe same sun<\/p>\n
\nthe night was the same
\nblack night as any other
\nblack night to sleep through & wake up from
\nwith bloodshot eyes the same
\nas the bloodshot eyes of every other morning<\/p>\n
\nthe same minutes ticking away inside watches
\nstuck to our wrists biting into the seconds
\nof a day the same as any other day
\nwith its clean morning the same as any other morning
\nwith the same sky the same streets the same walls all the same<\/p>\n
\nof her body fell to the ground at the exact same speed
\nas any other body of the hundreds of thousands of bodies piled high
\nin ditches and alleys and prison cells across every Great Nation
\npiled high in ghettos and camps and trailer parks
\nspilling the same slow blood<\/p>\n
\nspilling from her pierced liver into her rubber mouth,
\na hole for breathing while she stared at the blasting sky
\nwith its glint of metal gold splinters sparkling river
\na flood of light on a morning
\nthe same as any other morning<\/p>\n
