Stolen Things<\/span>

Waiting in a wooden forest<\/span>
where rain tips you here and there,<\/span>
you read the trees like you might read books<\/span>
and wonder: <\/span>What right have text books<\/span>
to worry me?<\/span>

I hold my hands and kiss them<\/span>
grateful for all the writing <\/span>
with the wooden pencils in the wooden world<\/span>
on wooden paper; now I realise I have stolen<\/span>
everything from the trees<\/span>

The Red Suitcase<\/span>

As I drag the thing through the streets of Dublin<\/span>
it tries to refrain from chaffing its redness<\/span>
on the way to a painful pink.<\/span>

I have packed my best dreams <\/span>
for a good  nights sleep<\/span>
wrapped up in my warmest nightie.<\/span>

I have packed the silk dress my mother gave me.<\/span>
I have never worn it; maybe because<\/span>
it is the most beautiful thing I have ever owned<\/span>
and I can\u2019t imagine how I would look<\/span>

like something <\/span>
with a face that isn\u2019t lost.<\/span>

I think I have remembered everything.<\/span>
I think I have remembered <\/span>
not to cry, but to laugh with my family  <\/span>
