It is four in the morning again<\/span>
I am awake<\/span>
The darkness is closing<\/span>
I had been dozing<\/span>
Now it is four in the morning again.<\/span>

I half remember dreams<\/span>
Where you were alive<\/span>
I want to return to them<\/span>
But I have awoken, reality has spoken<\/span>
It is four in the morning again<\/span>

I could turn over<\/span>
Pull duvet tight<\/span>
Pretend a person is there<\/span>
But the darkness is closing and far from dozing<\/span>
It is four in the morning again<\/span>

My heart will not settle<\/span>
Should I put on the kettle<\/span>
The comfort of hot tea and toast<\/span>
I would rather lie restless and hope in the darkness<\/span>
To see a faint shadow, a ghost<\/span>
It is four in the morning again<\/span>
