ANOTHER WRITER\u2019S DILEMMA  <\/span>

In the threshing, thrashing of the flesh,<\/span>
she says that if I\u2019m writing poetry.<\/span>
it means I\u2019m not paying attention.<\/span>
 <\/span>
There\u2019s no place in that universe of sweat<\/span>
for forests, wildflowers,<\/span>
mountains, puffy white clouds.<\/span>
The all-consuming nature of the act<\/span>
precludes the artistic sensuality<\/span>
from other sources.<\/span>
She cajoles me into putting down<\/span>
that pen, squashing up that chunk of paper.<\/span>
So I concentrate hard on the sex,<\/span>
telling myself with each<\/span>
burst of poetic pleasure,<\/span>
this is not a metaphor,<\/span>
