For One Night Only<\/span>

That one October<\/span>
We ran around like every night was Halloween<\/span>
Today you can be ex-junkie in oversized shades<\/span>
Tomorrow I\u2019ll be hungover fuck up in last night\u2019s clothes<\/span>
Platinum blonde hair and Marlboro reds<\/span>
Tripping our way down Bowery<\/span>
To the Poetry Club<\/span>
So we could see your boy of the day <\/span>
Spit a mediocre rhyme<\/span>
Over mediocre wine<\/span>
And the early mornings found us in Brooklyn bathtubs<\/span>
And through the window the jagged skyline jutted out<\/span>
Just like your collarbone<\/span>

But the winter froze your toes and iced your heart<\/span>
You never got used to saying Houston right anyway<\/span>
No goodbyes<\/span>
Just a half-empty bottle of Tito\u2019s with a note<\/span>
\u201cDrink it up and then fall down. But only in that order.\u201d<\/span>

They won\u2019t remember your name<\/span>
But I will<\/span>
I\u2019ll remember you in home-made soups<\/span>
And corner booths<\/span>
