Blue streaks in her hair<\/span>
To match her top.<\/span>
Face no longer dull but<\/span>
sparkling with the joy of singing.<\/span>
Kids queue up to<\/span>
the lady with beautiful rippled brilliant white hair, <\/span>
who repeats in her soft Geordie voice their choice of song<\/span>
and with gravity takes them down along with their names <\/span>
for the karaoke queen.<\/span>

<\/span>I don\u2019t like coke<\/span>
 <\/span>
\u201cCups ready for coke\u201d<\/span>
\u201cI don\u2019t like coke\u201d<\/span>
The words judder out.<\/span>
\u201cIt\u2019s all we\u2019ve got<\/span>
Look everyone else is having some.\u201d<\/span>
 <\/span>
The others sit compliant<\/span>
edging the table, blanched <\/span>
by the unhomely lights.<\/span>
You eat and retire to your compact room <\/span>
setting to work quietly smearing the walls<\/span>

You say most eloquently<\/span>
exactly what you think<\/span>
of that drink. I silently agree working<\/span>
slowly and deftly with gloves,<\/span>
bucket, water and sponge.<\/span>
