blue listerine into a bottle<\/span>
and turned it purple<\/span>
with a word.<\/span>
she drank.<\/span>
he watched<\/span>
as scarlet lips <\/span>
turned puce and cracked in pain.<\/span>

that\u2019s good, very good<\/span>
he said<\/span>
as he took her photo <\/span>
before the colour<\/span>
could leech away.<\/span>

that purple polaroid<\/span>
lives in his pocket.<\/span>
he\u2019ll carry it with him<\/span>
forever.<\/span>

he stared at the camera<\/span>
sepia tired<\/span>
after a night of foggy dreams<\/span>
spiked by frost<\/span>

she ignored him<\/span>
grazed on crisp grass<\/span>
licked her thick lips<\/span>
with thoughtful tongue<\/span>
minding the sensation<\/span>

his eyes<\/span>

beneath a tree<\/span>
bisected<\/span>
brushed to one side<\/span>

and on the other<\/span>
between the previous ghosts<\/span>
and the sign of the bush of holly<\/span>

they passed<\/span>
