There is also a soundfile containing a recording of these two poems being read.<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">Angel of the morning<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">Later that morning she brought me satsumas and a mug of sweet green tea that smelled of toasted rice. The slogan on her mug read <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic; font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"> while the one on mine said <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic; font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">I am not a number, I am a free man<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">. She asked me when we\u2019d meet again and I replied \u201csoon\u201d. At the time I said it, I meant it. But we never did make that second date. I am a free man and I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">~ ~ ~ ~ ~<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">Unravelling<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">Stuffing the other arm down the sleeve of his jacket,<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">he brushes the back of his hand slowly <\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">across my cheek,<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">kisses me: <\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; once, <\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; twice,<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">leans his forehead against mine<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">for several seconds.<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-style: italic; font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">I\u2019ll call you<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">, he says,<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">lips resting on my eyelid.<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">Then he\u2019s standing in the doorway,<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><span style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; one shoelace trailing&#8230;<br \/><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><\/span><br style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><\/font><br \/><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.legaltechnologyhub.com\/podcasts\/bevandcc.mp3\" autostart=\"no\" height=\"50\" width=\"300\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a double act, starting with a short prose poem Angel by IS&amp;T editor Charles Christian and followed by Unravelling, a response written by East Anglian poet Beverly Ellis.
