It comes<br \/>\nsliding its hands inside<br \/>\nthe curtains \u2013 almost touching<\/p>\n<p>then defining an island<br \/>\non the blank wall. The others<br \/>\nare sleeping on<\/p>\n<p>comfortably curled<br \/>\ninside the moon they came from.<br \/>\nThey will get up hooded<\/p>\n<p>flicking switches,<br \/>\nnudging the pivot<br \/>\nbetween night and day.<\/p>\n<p>I track the lozenge of light<br \/>\nacross the throat of a room<br \/>\nthat has lost its voice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Julia Stothard<\/strong> lives in Middlesex and works in Further Education as a database report writer.
