{"id":16289,"date":"2018-05-25T08:00:54","date_gmt":"2018-05-25T08:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ink.verticalplus.co.uk\/archive\/?p=16289"},"modified":"2018-04-05T11:01:25","modified_gmt":"2018-04-05T11:01:25","slug":"claire-walker-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inksweatandtears.co.uk\/archive\/claire-walker-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Claire Walker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>At the Sociology Conference<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She told us that even basic research<br \/>\nquestions can be hard.<\/p>\n<p><em>For example<\/em>, she said &#8211;<br \/>\npaused to pour<br \/>\na glass of water, time enough<br \/>\nto gather her words \u2013<br \/>\n<em>how many children have you got<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p><em>I\u2019ve lost a daughter<\/em>, she said,<br \/>\n<em>so how would I answer that<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p>At that point, she sat down,<br \/>\nrested her head back as if the ceiling<br \/>\nmight know which category to tick.<\/p>\n<p>I registered the thought as sad;<br \/>\nstored it away as a piece of someone else\u2019s life,<br \/>\nbut at that point, I had never been pregnant<br \/>\nand was probably looking ahead,<br \/>\nwondering what would be for lunch.<\/p>\n<p>At that point, I\u2019d never lost any daughters.<br \/>\nAt that point, I had all the answers to give.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_4076457406437356238MsoNormalCxSpMiddle\"><b><\/b><strong>Claire Walker<\/strong>&#8216;s poetry has appeared in magazines, anthologies and webzines.
