Thirteen Ways Of Looking At Orange<\/p>\n <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n After Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird by Wallace Stevens<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I<\/span><\/p>\n With longing<\/p>\n And sharp nails<\/p>\n I consider the orange.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n II<\/span><\/p>\n Five oranges perch in their little tree<\/p>\n Exuding banal sweetness.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n III<\/span><\/p>\n Lust for orange<\/p>\n Can send a woman<\/p>\n Into a splendour of madness.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n IV<\/span><\/p>\n Peel, moonlit on forest floor<\/p>\n Thin white curls discarded<\/p>\n For idiots to follow.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n V<\/span><\/p>\n You can\u2019t look away<\/p>\n From her dusky shimmer<\/p>\n Those slow-opening Hot Tropic lips<\/p>\n Accompanied by swish<\/p>\n Of falling skirt \u2013 orange, of course.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n VI<\/span><\/p>\n A man, a woman and an orange<\/p>\n Three objects<\/p>\n Eternally irreconcilable.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n VII<\/span><\/p>\n They climb into orange sky<\/p>\n Where steely towers grow<\/p>\n And men yearn for absent gods.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n VIII<\/span><\/p>\n Bring me oranges<\/p>\n And I will be your slave forever.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n IX<\/span><\/p>\n When darkness comes<\/p>\n Orange is a fleeting dream<\/p>\n Beyond your grasp.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n X<\/span><\/p>\n She cannot conceal her orange-flecked teeth<\/p>\n As her fingers grope towards<\/p>\n Another globe of pleasure.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Marmalade gloats on thin white crisp.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n XI<\/span><\/p>\n We will gather a billion billion billion oranges.<\/p>\n They will fill the deepest black hole<\/p>\n Shine brighter than the sun.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n XII<\/span><\/p>\n Air chokes its toxic warning.<\/p>\n Orange insect<\/p>\n Blunders into human.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n XIII<\/span><\/p>\n The last sunset<\/p>\n Will be orange on steroids<\/p>\n Will be laden with metaphor<\/p>\n Will be remembered<\/p>\n Until the last human bleats<\/p>\n Echo through barren plains.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Somewhere, in another world<\/p>\n An orange eye blinks.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jennie Ensor<\/span><\/strong> is an author living in north London.
