The Little Deer<\/span>

Little deer, I\u2019ve stuffed all the world\u2019s diseases inside you.<\/span>
Your veins are thorns<\/span>

and the good cells are lost in the deep dark woods<\/span>
of your organs.<\/span>

As for your spine, those cirrus-thin vertebrae<\/span>
evaporate when the sun comes out.<\/span>

Little deer too delicate for daylight,<\/span>
your coat of hailstones is an icepack on my fever.<\/span>

Are you thirsty?<\/span>
Rest your muzzle against the wardrobe mirror<\/span>

and drink my reflection \u2013<\/span>
the room pools and rivers about us<\/span>

but no one comes<\/span>
to stop my bed from sliding down your throat.<\/span>
