\nin Sunday supplements books
\nthat in five years or maybe ten
\nwill represent modern fiction
\non the syllabuses you teach so<\/p>\n
\nwhich your children say makes
\nyou look like a member of a rock
\ntribute band and you store that
\naway to think about on the trip
\nto town where you decide to visit
\na gallery for the first time in years<\/p>\n
\nbeing sure what you\u2019re looking at
\nbut pleased that you have made
\nthe effort because dear god there
\nmust be more to life than rubbery
\ngrey and here the altarpieces in
\ngold and blue might lift your mood<\/p>\n
\nsee a guard with red hair on a seat
\nin the corner falling asleep then
\nlurching awake while standing next
\nto him is a woman you used to see
\non children\u2019s TV programmes who
\nsmiles at you. You smile back.<\/p>\n
