You\u2019re on the driver\u2019s seat.<\/span>
I\u2019m only your passenger.<\/span>
On either side of us fields <\/span>
of sunflowers caress in a breeze.<\/span>

You\u2019re wearing your purple shirt <\/span>
with jeans and jagged eyebrows.<\/span>
It is quarter to three in the afternoon<\/span>
on an autumn Sunday; we\u2019re returning <\/span>
from lunch, wine and chat with friends.<\/span>
The break in our silence comes <\/span>
to tell me you want to call it a day.<\/span>

I watched the sunflowers caress,<\/span>
mute and childless.  <\/span>
 <\/span>

Three Days Before the Train <\/span>


A doll stares at 80s artex. <\/span>
Her eyes fixed wide open <\/span>
like she is looking at<\/span>
a winning lottery ticket <\/span>
or she has just been told <\/span>
her mother is cured of cancer.<\/span>

She is waiting for you to enter her<\/span>
bed and wrap your arms around her.  <\/span>
