so the heavy brocade on the altar <\/span>
is green, and gold braid snakes <\/span>
above the hem. I lift a corner gingerly <\/span>
and squint underneath \u2013 like I'm peaking<\/span>
under an old lady's skirt \u2013 peering<\/span>
through whorls of dust and matted fluff <\/span>
to find \u2013 YOU, <\/span>
a large man who made me laugh<\/span>
                                  <\/span>
Left in an oak casket with a gold clasp <\/span>
to keep you there, you're waiting for her.<\/span>
Sixty years you were together <\/span>
and it's seven years since your death.<\/span>
HURRY UP PLEASE IT'S TIME<\/span>
she's waiting as well, hanging around<\/span>
to join you. Ashes to ashes.<\/span>

HURRY UP PLEASE IT'S TIME <\/span>
for both to be buried <\/span>
in the church yard by the cherry tree.<\/span>
