REUNION<\/span>

Those old school dinners,<\/span>
the greasy mince, the pitchers of weak tea<\/span>
have been transmuted into beef,<\/span>
red wine tonight.<\/span>
The lives that run between<\/span>
are beads strung out along a chain of days<\/span>
which we investigate with nervous fingers.<\/span>

Drawing again \u2013<\/span>
back to the slick of a Stanley knife,<\/span>
the cedarwood incense<\/span>
of sharpened pencils,<\/span>
the give of a putty rubber.<\/span>
 <\/span>
Painting again \u2013<\/span>
gouache on a cracked plate,<\/span>
mixing shade, tint, tone,<\/span>
Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre,<\/span>
Ultramarine.<\/span>
 <\/span>
Chancing a start<\/span>
on stretched paper<\/span>
I catch at light and shadow,<\/span>
deliver with affection<\/span>
imperfect work.<\/span>
