Ortiz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Best Thing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our parents were astronauts<br \/>\nof two extremes.<br \/>\nEvery vacant lot<br \/>\nwhere we used to play<br \/>\nstarted boiling over, so<br \/>\nwe grew up (in word only)<br \/>\nagainst the prognosis<br \/>\nof a possible plague<br \/>\nof perverts arriving<br \/>\nto snatch us.<br \/>\nWe were unlabeled objects<br \/>\non the pavement<br \/>\nsculpting our silhouettes<br \/>\nfor the trap,<br \/>\nbabbling and babbling<br \/>\nuntil we vomited<br \/>\nthe true value of silence.<br \/>\nAt the end of the space race<br \/>\nreality always exceeds fiction.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sergio A. Ortiz<\/strong> is a two-time Pushcart nominee, a four-time Best of the Web nominee, and 2016 Best of the Net nominee. 2nd place in the 2016 Ram\u00f3n Ataz Annual Poetry Competition sponsored by Alaire publishing house.
