Though<\/p>\n<p>her lips were the<br \/>\nbluest they\u2019d ever been.<\/p>\n<p>Neighbours called: offered broth.<br \/>\nI\u2019d ran, hidden amongst reed grasses,<br \/>\ngripped thistle heads and blackberry thorns, let them sear my skin.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d inhaled smells of damp earth and decay,<br \/>\nexhaled snot and tears.<\/p>\n<p>Watched the wind move<br \/>\nthe garden gate<\/p>\n<p>made it creak in hollow invitation<br \/>\nmade the rowan leaves twitch<\/p>\n<p>like witches fingers, casting red spells<br \/>\nthrough stolen\u00a0night.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrea Bowd<\/strong> is a recent graduate of Nottingham University achieving a first class degree in Creative and Professional Writing. She is now studying for a Masters Degree in Creative Writing.
