{"id":14559,"date":"2017-09-25T08:00:52","date_gmt":"2017-09-25T08:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ink.verticalplus.co.uk\/archive\/?p=14559"},"modified":"2017-07-23T11:32:57","modified_gmt":"2017-07-23T11:32:57","slug":"catherine-eunson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inksweatandtears.co.uk\/archive\/catherine-eunson\/","title":{"rendered":"Catherine Eunson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Virtuous Man<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He was wise, there is no doubt,<br \/>\nand he was seaworthy<br \/>\nbut equally buoyant was his life-giving wife.<\/p>\n<p>Together they captained a commendable crew,<br \/>\neverybody knew theirs was a kind ship, well run,<br \/>\nand of its like there were few.<\/p>\n<p>Then he died (it\u2019s coming to us all)<br \/>\nhis funeral was on Saturday, and in the church<br \/>\nwe sat sadly, surrounded by reminders;<\/p>\n<p>the paintings on each wall, the form of every statue,<br \/>\nall images depicted there were bearded, earnest and upright,<br \/>\nthey could have been his brothers.<\/p>\n<p>His obituary was fulsome, a respectful chronicle<br \/>\nof\u00a0 achievement, and his wife was mentioned too,<br \/>\nwho was more than his anchor,<\/p>\n<p>more than seasoned timbers, more vital to the voyage<br \/>\nthan all the precious cargo,<br \/>\nshe held to the horizon and kept their bearings true.<\/p>\n<p>So was it just churlish, before that last hymn,<br \/>\nto note that her send off is not<br \/>\nlikely to be quite so well referenced?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Catherine Eunson<\/strong> lived in Benbecula for some time, where she had various music and arts related jobs.
