floating like disco balls<\/span>
in Manhattan goldfish bowls:<\/span>
delivering hate-mail<\/span>
and condoms, ice cream<\/span>
and victory gin to red-faced men<\/span>
(wishing now was then)<\/span>
with suicidal girls<\/span>
sitting cross-legged in furs<\/span>
on inexpensive chairs<\/span>
of painted papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9. <\/span>

The eyes of a stranger, falling<\/span>
through a one-way mirror;<\/span>
a romance, a tragedy, a false sense of confidence,<\/span>
a t\u00eate-\u00e0-t\u00eate with the Plastic Princess<\/span>
out on the city streets,<\/span>
where borrowed dreams<\/span>
are fading in the haze of steam<\/span>
