His liquid-wood skin, oxidised syrup<br \/>\nin the trident of sunlight<br \/>\ndangling from angler still branches.<\/p>\n<p>He trots past the patches of his fauna veil,<br \/>\nblue and alazarin bird berries jiggle over his goat\u2019s tail.<\/p>\n<p>Bends a fur-knarled knee into the stone<br \/>\npierced river bank: ledger filled with froglets.<br \/>\nGenuflecting the sun the water\u2019s stubborn<br \/>\nneed to be clear yet secretive; it is a language<br \/>\nthey both speak.<\/p>\n<p>Dead-fish eyes, dark as a badger sett<br \/>\nstare with a monarch\u2019s wisdom<br \/>\nat me: never blinking as he glugs<br \/>\nrushing water, fast as the beat<br \/>\nof a humming bird&#8217;s wings.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Adam Magee<\/b> is Swansea born poet and a student at the University of Gloucestershire studying his BA, and applying for his MA. He is also a events and communications officer at the Cheltenham Poetry Festival, who set his mentorship with Angela France.
