She has an MA in Creative Writing from Lancaster University. Her work has been widely published. You won\u2019t see me<br \/>\nwrapped in fur on mild days. My skin<br \/>\nis thicker than most. Your harpoons will not<br \/>\nquickly bring me down. I walk a straight path.<\/p>\n<p>I come from the south. I find you hard<br \/>\nand hostile. I bring warmth into your nights<br \/>\nand colour to your shrouded stares.<br \/>\nI bring history and sand dunes.<\/p>\n<p>I come from the west. My horse has faced<br \/>\na long and painful journey. Listen, there is danger<br \/>\nat every turn. I follow my own guide,<br \/>\nalthough I do not know the way.<\/p>\n<p>I come from the east. People are different there.<br \/>\nI balanced on a tightrope, traversed high cliffs<br \/>\nto reach this place. I bring understanding,<br \/>\nwonder, books and spices. I bring fear.<\/p>\n<p>I come from nowhere. I am invisible.<br \/>\nI crouch here, still, in half-unrest.<br \/>\nI wait for the alarm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Van-Cauter<\/strong>\u00a0 is a personal tutor and editor who lives in Hitchin, Herts. He has long been involved with Poetry ID in Letchworth and Ver Poets in St Albans. Recent publications include the <em>London Progressive Journal<\/em>.
