{"id":1270,"date":"2008-06-11T06:41:00","date_gmt":"2008-06-11T06:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ink.verticalplus.co.uk\/archive\/?p=1270"},"modified":"2008-06-11T06:41:00","modified_gmt":"2008-06-11T06:41:00","slug":"flash-fiction-by-tola-ositelu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inksweatandtears.co.uk\/archive\/flash-fiction-by-tola-ositelu\/","title":{"rendered":"Flash fiction by Tola Ositelu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font size=\"2\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\">This was the sixth Doctor\u2019s surgery he was visiting that week.&nbsp; Harold had long ago resigned himself to the fact he had a problem.&nbsp; That he savoured the pleasure of sitting around, observing the infirm.&nbsp; Usually after a couple of hours of avoiding the receptionist\u2019s gaze, they would approach him and the game was up.&nbsp; This surgery had a male receptionist.&nbsp; Harold stared at the TV watching a sexual health promo with disdain.&nbsp; Contrived, he thought, compared to the others he had seen.<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><br style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\">&#8220;Harold&#8221;.&nbsp; He jumped as the receptionist called his name, ever so soft, maybe even a little sympathetic.&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8220;It\u2019s time to go now&#8221;.<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><br style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\">On the footpath outside Harold made up his mind, again, to stop this.&nbsp; After all, he couldn\u2019t possibly track down all his former patients.&nbsp; Yet two years after being struck off he still hadn\u2019t kicked the habit of trying.<\/span><br style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><br style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><br style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><br style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\">\u2022 Tola Ositelu was born in South-East London, 1981 to Nigerian and Ghanaian parents.
