\nLevelled on the hillside,<\/span>
\nSomehow upright, white-washed<\/span>
\nWind-torn weather rock<\/span>
\nMid morning and like it\u2019s been
\nRecently, I\u2019m up and nested
\nAt the window, the land glows at this time.
\n\u00a0A badger is fox-holed in land,<\/span>
\nStriking, its claws draw blood;<\/span>
\nA flint strike of sulphur-red.<\/span>
\nAfterbirth boils and drains,
\nI take one bite and bury the rest
\nIn the hole and share the life organ.
\nI suspect winter will pick them off,<\/span>
\n\u00a0One by one the cub huddle dwindles,<\/span>
\n Father eats the rest and stokes the cycle.<\/span>
\nYou are now a mercury vessel of joy,
\nIt colours you by the sunrise \u2013
\nPluck my rib and stir the earth.<\/p>\n
