\nJohn the Baptist
\nin the desert this time,
\nand then next up,
\nMadonna and child
\nfollowed by a saint being stoned
\nwith angels in the wings
\n(no pun intended)…
\ncenturies old,
\nalmost rupturing with faith,
\nhow can I tell these beatific faces
\nthat I prefer Picasso’s Cubist nudes,
\nMagritte’s locomotive
\nroaring out of the fireplace,
\nHopper’s Nighthawks,
\nPollock’s abstract impressionism.
\nA guard is eying me
\nin case I mess with the art.
\nSt Stephen is eyeing me
\nand my handful of stones.<\/p>\n
