\non the way to work,
\nI saw three giraffes
\nin the rush hour jungle.
\nThe tallest staring straight ahead,
\nthe middle one turning traffic wards
\nand the smallest eyeing the heavens.
\nStranded amidst the wreckage
\nof this garden centre car park
\ncommandeered by builders\u2019 huts
\nand construction site clutter.
\nFull size replicas
\nabandoned by the wire fence,
\nrope leads cut,
\nforce fed roadwork views.
\nSilently pleading on the sentimental frequency
\nfor someone with suitable transport
\nto affect their escape from neglect,
\nthe indifference of hard hats
\nand fall out of brick dust rain.
\nIn their plastic despair,
\nToys \u2018R\u2019 Us looms like a savannah.<\/p>\n
