An Old Man Walks Home<\/span>
 <\/span>
 <\/span>
In the garden there grows a crippled tree<\/span>
heavy with crab-apples<\/span>
food for worms<\/span>
and wasps.<\/span>
 <\/span>
In the garden pond<\/span>
the frogs float<\/span>
grim faced<\/span>
they blink and croak.<\/span>
 <\/span>
On the outhouse roof<\/span>
the owl rests<\/span>
patient for the night<\/span>
Magritte\u2019s clock with no hands.<\/span>
 <\/span>
Homeward on the wing<\/span>
not contending with the problem<\/span>
of where he came from<\/span>
the white dove.<\/span>
 <\/span>
And below is an old man<\/span>
walking home and wondering why<\/span>
he was given the ability<\/span>
to question it all.<\/span>
 <\/span>
In the kitchen<\/span>
his wife<\/span>
face to face with twilight<\/span>
draws the curtains.<\/p>\n
