I was somewhere else<\/span>


I was somewhere else when she said life is fine.<\/span>
Awoken to myself by the fire and the wine.<\/span>
Her words startled me but they do everytime<\/span>
She has a revelation of this kind.<\/span>

How long will this last? She said she thinks its for good.<\/span>
Strong with my grasp I said you\u2019re misunderstood.<\/span>
This is the second today and I\u2019m bored of you more.<\/span>
Can\u2019t you just say that life is a bore.<\/span>

She stood above me, sand fell from her skirt.<\/span>
She told me she loved me, clasped my hand till it hurt.<\/span>
And again she ran, far out of sight.<\/span>
Reciting her plan as she does every night.<\/span>

College she shouted I\u2019ll finish my degree<\/span>
And become an accountant, with authority.<\/span>
But I knew she\u2019d return disappointed tomorrow.<\/span>
Awake all the night sulking shores of sorrow.<\/span>

Eventual fire to embers, the wine tipped to sand.<\/span>
In my dreams I remember the tight grip of her hand.<\/span>
Together we\u2019ve been since our childhood pact.<\/span>
Now my only purpose might never come back.<\/span>

My eyes awake first, unaware I exist<\/span>
They appreciate the colours that the majority miss.<\/span>
Another line on my tally tells me its almost three weeks.<\/span>
I\u2019ve been lying every alley and walked all the streets.<\/span>

Still I haven\u2019t seen her. She must have left town.<\/span>
The unjust arena doesn\u2019t want me around.<\/span>
The life I oppose for her I somewhat approve<\/span>
And when the tides at my toes I won\u2019t bother to move.<\/span>
