I make him who I wanted him to be.
\nI build him from memory and from other people:
\na pick-and-mix of George Clooney\u2019s
\nhair and Kenneth Branagh\u2019s chin.<\/p>\n
I sometimes shop locally if the produce
\nis available: I once bought a used copy
\nof D. H. Lawrence\u2019s The Lover because
\nof the model\u2019s profile on the cover.<\/p>\n
With this harvest I mold him,
\nchew papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9 from his letters,
\nscripts; pocket-mulch magazines,
\ngive him back his language.<\/p>\n
I make him perfect. I put a slip of paper
\nwith my name on it into his mouth,
\nthe holy word.<\/p>\n
