The myth of the truth is…<\/span>

Poor Dolores, sitting there beneath the assault<\/span>
prodding and prying for “truth”<\/span>

Did you know the moon faced boy?<\/span>
Did you scent musk of crazy earth?<\/span>

Her eyes rinse, widen, shakes her heads<\/span>
conviction and denial<\/span>
and when the results are revealed<\/span>
to finger twisting audience<\/span>
it is no longer truth they wish for<\/span>
but lust the machine's lies<\/span>
for the polygraph is right<\/span>
science says so<\/span>
we can't refute science<\/span>

And when she contradicts<\/span>
(shouts and rapturous applause)<\/span>
they have what they want<\/span>
condemned by her words<\/span>
even though she stirs, cries, tears<\/span>
and disbelief is horror in her throat<\/span>
they crowd on in with sharpened sticks<\/span>
